Google Business Profile Management for Brisbane Businesses

Your Google Business Profile is usually the first thing a local customer sees when they search for what you do. It shows up in the map pack, on Google Maps, and in the panel on the right of the results page, often before anyone clicks through to your website. If it's half-finished, out of date, or sitting unanswered, you're handing those clicks to whoever down the road keeps theirs current.

DomainFX manages Google Business Profiles for trades, clinics, cafes, retailers and service businesses across Brisbane and its surrounding suburbs. We're based in Ormeau, just south of Brisbane, so this is local territory for us, not a list of place names dropped into a template.

Want to see what we mean? Ask us to walk you through a recent profile clean-up: a corrected services list, a tidied photo section, and an insights graph moving the right way. We're happy to show you the kind of work before you commit to anything.

This is a hands-on service, not a course. You don't learn to do it yourself. We do it, and we keep doing it.

What managing a Google Business Profile actually involves

Creating a basic profile is the easy part. Keeping it accurate, active and useful is the ongoing work, because neglected profiles quickly start to look stale to both customers and Google.

A managed profile means someone is regularly:

  • Publishing Google Posts (offers, updates, events) so the profile keeps signalling activity
  • Responding to reviews, the good and the bad, in a way that reads like a real business and not a bot
  • Adding fresh, geo-tagged photos of recent work, the premises, the team
  • Monitoring the Questions and Answers section, where anyone can post a question and, worryingly, anyone can answer it
  • Keeping categories, services, hours and attributes accurate, including the public-holiday hours that catch so many businesses out over the Queensland long weekends
  • Watching the profile for unauthorised "suggested edits" that Google sometimes applies to your address, hours or phone number without asking

Most owners start strong, then the posts slowly drop off once the day-to-day work gets busy. That gap is what we fill.

What's included when DomainFX manages your profile

The exact work depends on the state of your profile, but these are the jobs we usually handle:

AreaWhat we handle
Setup and verificationCreating or claiming the profile, working through Google's verification (video or postcard), fixing failed verifications
OptimisationPrimary and secondary categories, full services list, business description, products, booking links, the right service-area settings
PhotosOngoing photo uploads, removing low-quality or duplicate images, cover and logo selection
PostsA regular schedule of Google Posts written for your offers and seasons
ReviewsReplying to every review, plus a simple system to ask happy customers for one
Q&AMonitoring questions, posting accurate answers, removing misleading user answers where Google allows
ReportingWhat's changing in calls, direction requests, website clicks and search queries from your profile insights

If your profile is fine and you only need it set up properly once, we'll tell you that rather than sell you a retainer you don't need. Plain-English advice is the point of working with us.

Who this service is for, and who it isn't

This makes sense if you rely on local customers finding you and you don't have the time, or the patience, to log into Google every week. Trades booking jobs across Brisbane, a dentist in Brisbane's northern suburbs, a homewares shop on the south side: these are the businesses that get the most out of consistent profile management.

It's a poor fit if you're a purely online business with no local service area, or if you serve customers nationally with no physical catchment. In those cases your budget is better spent elsewhere, and we'll say so.

How profile management fits with your broader local SEO

A Google Business Profile and a ranking website are two different assets that feed each other. The profile drives the map pack and Maps visibility. Your website earns the organic "blue link" rankings and gives the profile something authoritative to point to. Get both consistent on name, address and phone number, link them properly, and each one lifts the other.

This page is for businesses that specifically want the Google profile handled: posts, reviews, photos, Q&A, categories, verification and clean-up. The broader SEO pages cover website rankings, content, technical fixes and ongoing search strategy.

This page is specifically about managing the profile. If you want the website side handled too, that sits under our Brisbane SEO services, and the two work best together.

If your main problem is website rankings, use the SEO service pages. If your main problem is the Google map listing itself, this is the right page.

The profile problems we fix most often

Plenty of clients come to us not for a fresh start but to clean up a mess:

  • Suspended or duplicate listings. Google suspends profiles for guideline breaches and sometimes by mistake, and duplicate listings split your reviews and confuse the map. We've documented our approach in recovering a duplicate or suspended Google listing.
  • Wrong or hijacked information. Address changed, hours wrong, a phone number you don't recognise. These often come from Google's automated "updates" or from someone else's suggested edit being accepted.
  • A profile that went quiet. No posts, unanswered reviews from months ago, photos from 2019. Reactivating a dormant profile is one of the quickest local wins available.
  • The wrong categories. The single biggest free lever on local ranking is your primary category, and a surprising number of profiles have it wrong.

For example, a typical clean-up might start with a service business showing the wrong primary category, two old duplicate listings and unanswered reviews from the previous year. The first pass would be to correct the category, remove or merge the duplicate listing, update the services list, add current photos and put a review-response process in place.

What it costs

GBP management is quoted after we review your current listing. The price depends on whether we are claiming, cleaning up or actively managing the profile; how many locations you run; how many reviews need replies; and how often you want posts and photos added. A short call is usually enough for us to give you a clear estimate before you commit.

You keep ownership; we manage the weekly upkeep

You'll deal with a small team and, often, directly with Michael, who owns and runs DomainFX. We set up shared access to your profile through Google rather than asking for your password, send you a plain-language summary of what we've changed and why, and check in on the numbers that actually matter: calls, direction requests and clicks from the profile. You get a plain-English note on what changed, what we are watching, and whether calls, direction requests and website clicks are moving.

Questions Brisbane businesses ask before handing over their profile

Do I keep ownership of my profile? Yes. It stays in your Google account under your ownership. We work as a manager with the access level you grant, and you can remove that access at any time.

Can you fix a profile that's already suspended? Often, yes. Reinstatement depends on why Google suspended it and whether the guideline issue can be corrected. We'll assess the cause first and be straight with you about the odds before you pay for anything.

Is a Google Business Profile the same as Google My Business? It's the same thing renamed. Google retired the "Google My Business" name and the standalone app, and management now happens through Google Search, Maps and the Business Profile dashboard.

How long until I see results? Cleanup wins like correct categories and reactivated posting can show in profile insights within a few weeks. Ranking movement in the map pack is slower and depends on competition in your suburb, so treat it as a steady build rather than an overnight switch.

Do you only work with Brisbane businesses? Our home patch is Brisbane and its surrounding suburbs, and that local knowledge helps. We've worked with clients elsewhere in Australia too, and profile management can be handled remotely anywhere.
