Step 1: Access your Joomla administration area
To begin updating your Joomla extensions, you first need to log into the administration area of your website. Open your web browser and navigate to your Joomla website’s admin login page. This is typically located at “yourdomain.com/administrator”. Enter your admin username and password to log in.
Step 2: Navigate to the Extensions Manager
Once you’re logged into the administration area, locate the ‘Extensions’ menu at the top of the page. Click on ‘Manage’ from the dropdown menu to access the Extensions Manager.
Step 3: Access the Update section
In the Extensions Manager, find the menu on the left-hand side of the page. Click on the ‘Update’ option to open the section where you can see all the extensions that need updates.
Step 4: Select the extension to update
The main part of the page will now display a list of extensions with available updates. The extensions in need of an update will be shown with their respective names, such as ‘JCH Optimizer for Joomla Pro’ and ‘pkg_gantry5’ in the example provided. To select an extension for updating, click on the checkbox beside its name.
Step 5: Update the selected extension
With the desired extension selected, locate the ‘Update’ button at the top left of the page, next to the ‘Find Updates’ button. Click on the ‘Update’ button to start the update process for the selected extension. Wait for the update to complete, and you should see a confirmation message indicating that the extension was successfully updated.
Step 6: Update remaining extensions
To update the rest of the extensions, repeat steps 4 and 5 for each extension that requires an update. It is recommended to update one extension at a time, rather than attempting to update all extensions simultaneously, as doing so may cause conflicts or errors during the update process. Once all updates are completed, your Joomla extensions will be up to date, and your site should run smoothly with the latest features and improvements.
